Styles of Space Art
What is Space Art?
It is a new genre established in Europe and America. It relies on space activity for its implementation and has broad categories. I will show some examples and details below.
A) Examples of Space Art Which Have a Variety of Styles
1) Art Works Suitable for Micro-gravity Environment
This art is in space and viewed in space.
If you use a medium such as a video, you can view it from Earth, too.
2) A Satellite as an Art Expression
There is a satellite called KEO built to return to Earth 50,000 years from today. It will bring back to our far away descendants every message that each and every one of us is invited to put on board.
3) Pictures which are Taken in Space
New landscapes become accessible through space photography and film. This is also fine art because it exploits sensory experiences generated through space exploration.
4) Environment Design in Space
This includes the applied arts such as space architecture, interior design and furniture design.
5) A Huge Art Work which is Visible from Space
This is an example of art on Earth, viewed from space. An art work on the ground with some mirrors or other devices to reflect sunlight.
6) Dance in Micro-gravity Environment
This type of dance performance exploits sensory experiences generated through space exploration.

This fine art takes advantage of new materials created or discovered through space activities.

The role of art is to stimulate the imagination and to enhance the sensitivity of humans. In the near future, when generations of people may be living outside the Earth’s atmosphere, a radical transformation of human values may be possible. Art in space can contribute to this radical transformation by affecting mental and physical health and by creating new perspectives for the people living on Earth and in space.
